Quarantine Poster Collection

A collection of posters created across the first six months of the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. I created these with the purpose of expressing thoughts and feelings in the depths of the quarantine, but also to have documentation of what the pandemic was like that I can look back on.

I created this first poster after being inspired by the collection of COVID inspired posters at Viral Art Project. I was fascinated by the way they offered up collections of historical war and movement posters as inspiration for creatives wanting to submit pandemic posters to the online gallery. Looking through the gallery of submissions, the callbacks to historical posters were evident. Before this, I had avoided the topic of what was going on in the world with the things I was making because I wasn’t even sure what to say. But I was reminded by this online collection that art historically has been so important in difficult times, whether it’s to make change, encourage each other, or just express what we’re feeling.

My poster was largely inspired by 70s protest posters. I ended up submitting it to Viral Art Project and it was selected to be featured in the online gallery.

A more lighthearted poster inspired by my growing interest in cooking and baking as working from home called for new and interesting snack ideas.

A poster from May of 2020 in response to my realization that this was really for the long haul, and that I would be spending many painful hours on hold with airlines and travel companies cancelling all of my plans.
